Emily, Lewis and Madie, MKC Ambassadors, met with MP Andrew Selous,  Professor Janet Walker and Commodore Peter Coulson to discuss issues facing serving members of the armed forces and veterans. This was part of a countrywide tour to gain valuable comments from  a service families prospective. Andrew specifically asked for an MKC input after he had received correspondence from them and Janet was extremely interested in the group after studying the website.

Colonel Simon Chapman, Captain of the base later commented:-

“On behalf of NBC, thank you and also to those who you brought in to help explain the challenges and issues we/our Service families face.  Professor Walker’s email is immediately below and speaks for itself “

Professor Walker commented:-

Thank you both so much for hosting our visit to Devonport this week, for a splendid programme which enabled Andrew and me to meet so many interesting people and hear their views and stories, for showing us around (even in the rain), and  for excellent hospitality and wonderful meals. The navy definitely comes top in the hospitality awards!  We very much appreciated the generous time you gave us and the insights into life in and around Devonport. Our review will be much richer for the experience. We mulled over a number of recommendations on the train back to London and will be keen to share these in due course.

Thank you also to Tanya for keeping us posted as the visit was being planned,  Finally, please will you pass on my sincere thanks  to everyone we met, too many to name individually, and especially the young people, all of whom made our visit so worthwhile.
