Plymouth Poppy Bake Off 2018

The Final Results

The Poppy Bake of finals took place today in the Lord Mayor’s parlour. All the cakes were tasted by a Tri-Service panel alongside the Lord Mayor, a children’s author, a veteran chef, the RBL and David Fitzgerald from the BBC. The panel agreed that all the cakes were fantastic, but they had to make a decision about a winner.

The Finalists

Third place Tania from Heles. This was a moist cake with careful detail in the decoration.

Runner up Ella from Sparkwell. A light sponge with a really fruity filling.

Winner Isla from Dunstone. Wonderful decoration, light sponge, delicate flavour and the use of poppy seeds was very special.

All the finalists received gifts from the Lord Mayor and the RBL with the three winners receiving special prizes. Thank you to everyone of the finalists and special congratulations to Tania’ Ella and Isla…keep baking!

Thank you to all who entered the Bake Off. The semi-finalists, chosen by the Lord Mayor and his Consort along with Paula from the RBL/MKCH Team, are from the following schools/settings:
