Brompton Westbrook Primary School Kent
We actively encourage parents to get involved in their children’s learning. We have many parent helpers and are always looking for more.
We run a parent representative group called Friends of Brompton. One parent from each class meets the head teacher termly to share the views of parents and to plan fund-raising activities. Please speak to Mrs Knight in the school office if you are interested in becoming a ‘Friend of Brompton’.
We provide you with a report on your child’s progress three times a year. In the autumn & spring these are in the form of a single page summary along with a parent consultation appointment. Towards the end of the summer term we publish a full academic report.
Teachers are always happy to see parents to discuss their child’s progress and learning. This is very difficult first thing in the morning as teachers will be welcoming all of their children into class. There will usually be an adult at the door for you to pass messages to. If you need to see your child’s teacher, booking an appointment with them will guarantee some privacy.
The School Day
For children in Years R-6 the school day begins at 08.40. Children must be prompt and any late comers (after the doors close at 8.45) can only be admitted via the main school office. Lunch time is from 12.15 until 13.15 (Y1-6, YR 12.00-13.00) and the school day ends at 15.30 (Monday-Thursday). On a Friday the school day finishes at 13.15.
Children in our nursery attend either morning or afternoon sessions. The morning sessions begin at 08.45 and end at 11.45. The afternoon sessions start at 12.30 and finish at 15.30.
If your child is absent from school please either send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org stating your child’s name, their class, the reason for the absence and the expected date of return by 9am on the first day of absence or call 01634 84415201634 844152, select option 2 and be ready to give the information listed above. You can, of course, telephone the office before 9am to inform us of an absence if you would prefer.
It is important that your child attends school regularly. We publish our term dates well in advance, giving you plenty of time to plan your holidays. Please see our attendance policy as we will no longer authorise holidays during term time, except in exceptional circumstance.
