Old Priory Junior Academy

Old Priory Junior Academy.

A Very Warm Welcome

“Pursuing Excellence Through Inspirational Opportunities. “

Thank you for visiting our website.  The staff, governors and children would like to welcome you and share with you what makes Old Priory so special.

Old Priory Junior Academy is set in the outskirts of Plymouth in the heart of Plympton, very close to the Ridgeway Shopping Centre. We are extremely proud of our school and its wonderful learning environment. The academy building hides beautiful and vast outside grounds where squirrels, ducks, newts and hedgehogs thrive and delight the children. We also home 4 guinnea pigs which we share with families at weekends and holidays.  We are very lucky to have our own vast adventure playground, two large play areas, environmental area with outdoor classroom, orienteering trail and sports field.

Most of our children come to us from St. Mary’s C of E Infant School and leave us to attend one of the local secondary schools in Plympton; Ridgeway and  Hele’s School. Some attend Ivybridge and others go on to one of the Grammar schools in Plymouth. All Plympton schools are extremely popular and have a strong reputation both locally and across the city.

We have joined the Multi Academy Trust of St Christopher’s. You will find a link below to their website and visions and values. We are already working really closely with the Multi Academy Trust and see this as a positive step forward for Old Priory developing strong links with other schools and building a network of external support and capacity.

We are small enough to have a ‘family’ feel, yet large enough to take part in the full range of age appropriate activities that are necessary for a school to be a vibrant and active community.

Ensuring pupils achieve to the very highest level they can in all aspects of learning, social development and life skills are clear and ever present priorities for the school. We put learning and progress at the heart of all that we do.

Staff, governors and the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) are all committed to providing the best possible learning opportunities for pupils and everyone works exceptionally hard to ensure this happens every day.

Working successfully in partnerships with both parents and other organisations within our locality is an essential aspect of ensuring our vision is achieved.  Our standards are high and our children are happy to come to school, we believe Old Priory is: a place to develop our core values:

Honesty, Respect, Collaboration, Aspiration, Independence, Challenge, and is …

“…….. a supportive family where everyone feels valued, motivated and determined so all can move together towards a bright, positive and successful future”….but please don’t just take our word for it. Explore the website, take a look at what we’ve been up to and if you’re interested in joining us, contact the school office for an appointment to see us in action!

If there is any further information you require about us please contact the school office.

Yours faithfully,
