St. Matthews Primary Academy Plymouth

On behalf of the staff and governors may I welcome you and your family to our school website.

Our school is now 3 years old!! In that time, we have grown rapidly- from 75 pupils in September 2015 to an anticipated 500 pupils this September 2019.   We have been in a unique position that we have been able to appoint new  staff who were all committed to developing the  team spirit and family feel of the school, where staff, governors and parents  work closely together to provide an environment where all will flourish.  Above all, it is our aim to provide a safe, secure and caring environment for all who come here.

St Matthew’s is a  Church of England, Primary Academy and is part of the St Christopher’s Multi Academy Trust. St Matthew’s is closely linked to St George’s Academy and  will share some of the teaching and support staff. We currently have one Governing Body which  addresses and meets the needs of both the schools.

St Matthew’s  lies at the heart of the growing community and will offer opportunities and activities for adults and children out of school hours. Our early closure on a Friday at 1pm  has been a huge success and parents appreciate the  wealth of extra curricular opportunities we are able to offer our children. Our Breakfast club and after school care clubs enable us to offer extended care from 7.30am to 5.45pm.

The school benefits from fairly extensive grounds which will be developed over the next few years with support from the pupils and our school community. We hope to have a school veg plot, chickens, outdoor classroom, wild nature area, grassy areas, hard courts and a Multi Use all weather pitch.

Please come and get involved ! We believe parental support is of paramount importance and so we will be  actively encouraging  parents to take part in their child’s school life.  A Parent Teachers and Friends Association ( PTFA)  has been established  and our  Parent Forum group meet termly to  discuss issues that support us to ensure the smooth running of the school.  This is ‘our’ school and together we will shape it to meet our children’s needs. Your feedback is very important to us!

Browse through the pages of our website; there is a wealth of information to support both parents and children. Our prospectus  will provide further details about our school  and will detail aspects of everyday life.

Feel free to contact the school on  395969 for additional information or use the contact form below. Information from thw website can be provided in paper copies if requested.

With thanks

Mrs Andrea Smith
